Gabimaru the Hollow, who was apprehended during a failed assassination attempt on the king, was sentenced to death. However, his seemingly indestructible form due to his extraordinary strength defied all attempts at execution.
Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, a seasoned executioner, believes that Gabimaru’s unwavering vitality stems from his wife’s love and offers him a chance for a complete pardon from the Shogunate. The condition for this pardon is the retrieval of the elixir of life from the legendary region of Shinsenkyo, located in the southwestern part of the Ryukyu Kingdom.
This mission, however, is not without its challenges, as previous exploration teams sent by the Shogunate have met with failure, and 5 teams have gone missing on the treacherous island.
This time, the Shogunate has selected a group of convicted criminals and assigned each of them a personal assassin in the form of Yamada Asaemon. The only way for these prisoners to gain their freedom is to return with the elixir of life.
